Human Rights Day is celebrated on 10th December every year with different themes every year. It was the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)

 This year 2021, the theme of Human Rights Day is “Equality, Reducing inequalities, advancing human rights”. This theme relates to ” Equality and Article 1 of UDHR” – All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
The theme of Human Rights Day 2020 was “Recover Better – Stand Up for Human Rights” which related to the COVID-19 pandemic and focused on the need to build back better by ensuring Human Rights are central to recovery efforts as per the UN.
