Padma Shri hockey legend and Arjuna Awardee Charanjit Singh breathed his last at the age of 91 on 27/01/2022 (Thursday) at Una district, Himachal Pradesh his native place due to age-related complications.
Born on 22nd November 1930, he had won the historic Gold Medal in 1964 Tokyo Olympics by beating Pakistan in the finals and was also a part of the Indian team that won silver in 1960 Olympics Games in Rome.
After his retirement from hockey, he became the director of Physical Education Department at Himachal Pradesh Universiy.
Social Media was full of condolences over the death of the legend.
