Andrew Symonds Death – Andrew Symonds was born on 9th June 1975 at Birmingham, England. He was an Australian International all rounder cricketer. Symonds was a right handed, middle order batsman; medium pace and off-spin bowler; and also had exceptional fielding skills. He was lovingly known as Roy who made his debut in the year 1998 against Pakistan.
Andrew Symonds was a two-time World Cup winner. He had played 26 Test matches, 198 ODIs and 14 T20Is for Australia. In his test matches he scored 1462 runs at an average of 40.61 and had 24 wickets by his medium pace and handy off spin bowling. In ODIs he scored over 5000 runs at an average of 39.75 while battling in the middle order.
Symonds took retirement from cricket in February 2012. After his retirement he had done commentary and broadcasting which made him a renowned figure for Fox Sports.
Andrew Symonds breathed his last on 14th May 2022 in a car crash in Queensland at the age of 46. The police officers of Queensland are investigating the crash which occured at Hervey Range, 50 kms away from Townsville.
According to the police statement,”Early information indicates shortly after 11pm the car was being driven on Hervey Range Road, near Alice River Bridge when it left the roadway and rolled”. The statement also included,”Emergency services attempted to revive the 46 year old driven and sole occupant, however, he died of his injuries. The Forensic Crash unit is investigating.”
Andrew Symonds is survived by his wife Laura and two young – children Chloe and Billy.
International cricket had just grieved two months back over Shane Warne at the age of 52 by heart attack in Thailand.
